Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I mean, obviously this is magnificent. How can I review Italo Calvino?
In Plato’s Republic, there’s a ratio between cities and souls. My idea about this is that every city in here is somebody the author knows. I’ll bet there are forty or so personal friends of Calvino’s who each paused for a full five minutes on a certain page. Just wondering. Thinking, “Is that… Is that me?”
The mix of concrete description and abstraction is brilliant. How can I say more? Quick book, very important, read it yourself.
